Cedar Rapids Symphony School
Broadcast 10/15/04 The educational arm of the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra is the Cedar Rapids Symphony School of Music. It touches thousands of lives in the community by offering private music lessons and 18 different music education programs to students of all ages. Living in Iowa tells the story of the Symphony School's past and future. It explores three of the music education programs: 'Music Together,' a beginning music appreciation class for parents and toddlers; 'Third Grade Strings,' free violin classes available to every Cedar Rapids third-grader; and 'Greater Cedar Rapids Youth Symphony Orchestras,' an opportunity for teenagers in 20 eastern Iowa communities to perform in two symphony orchestras.
