Iowa Sculpture Festival

The Iowa Sculpture Festival is drawing artists from across the country to Newton's Maytag Park, making it a center for sculpture in the Midwest.

An annual event since June of 2003, the festival is the culmination of a year-round effort to increase public displays of sculpture and art education opportunities.

Cutting and welding metal with Davenport sculptor Eric Mart, the Newton Basics and Beyond Alternative High School students are creating a sculpture for permanent display in their community.

Newton elementary students are also working with professional artists in Iowa Sculpture Festival workshops. Newton sculptors Nick Klepinger and Herman Deaton are helping fourth though sixth grade talented and gifted students from area schools express their creativity in clay.

Bringing new dimensions to the Newton community learn more about the Iowa Sculpture Festival on Living in Iowa.
