BillyLee Janey and the CompaK 3
(Iowa Music) Broadcast 07/15/05 BillyLee Janey has been a Cedar Rapids area guitar icon dating back to the mid 70s when he led the heavy rock trio Truth & Janey. Original vinyl copies of their album No Rest For The Wicked command hundreds of dollars in collector's circles throughout Europe. Most recently BillyLee has adopted more of a blues and fusion jazz approach and, in the last couple of years has started to master the EIGHT string guitar. When you hear bass lines, that's Billy Lee playing on the top two strings, simultaneously while playing the guitar parts with the bottom six strings. Billy D-Bill Davis joins BillyLee on saxophone and Skip Lowe drives the beat on drums. Together they're BillyLee Janey's Compak 3.
