Iowa Valley Scenic Byway
(Side Roads) Broadcast 09/02/05 This summer, Paul Berge travels the side roads along Iowa's 8 scenic byways that wind through river valleys, along beautiful bluffs, by rolling prairies and into wonderful woodlands.
The Iowa Valley Scenic Byway runs along the Iowa River valley and encompasses the Amana Colonies where Paul checks out a nature trail, the world's largest walnut rocking chair as well as the usual Amana attractions. Paul finds two landmarks in the Tama and Toledo area: a cow and calf sculpture honoring Norma "Duffy" Lyon and the last remaining bridge on the old Lincoln Highway. Tama is also famous for the Meskwaki Casino and their annual Pow Wow. Famous grill-your-own beef steaks can be found at Rube's Restaurant in Montour.
