Polk County Prairie Burn
(Program Close) Broadcast 10/31/05 While fire is often considered destructive, it is in fact an important tool in restoring and maintaining a healthy prairie. In the spring of 2004, the Polk County Conservation Board set fire to a prairie near Big Creek State Park. Like the Phoenix of ancient lore that rises reborn from the ashes of an all- consuming fire, the prairie is reborn.
