Freedom Rock
(Side Roads) Broadcast 01/04/07 Side Roads host Paul Berge takes us to a place in central Iowa where freedom rocks. Since 1999 Ray "Bubba" Sorensen has painted a Memorial Day tribute to American servicemen on a boulder that is known as "Freedom Rock." Each year Ray paints a new tribute and in 2005 chose the theme "Generation of Valor" which depicts a Pearl Harbor veteran embracing a marine that had just returned from the war in Iraq. Freedom Rock is just south of I-80 and north of Greenfield on Highway 25.
