Whether she's scatting jazz, belting the blues, or interpreting pop standards in her own style, Newton's Joanne Jackson is pretty much considered one of the state's premiere traditional singers. Nationally recognized for her stage performances in Blues In the Night and The Wiz, Joanne has toured internationally with the Houston Grand Opera's Tony-winning production of Porgy and Bess. She performs the songs "Here's That Rainy Day," "Sunny Side of the Street," and "Next to You" with another Newton based musician, piano man John Mattingly.
