Mike  Pearson

Mike Pearson (Host)

Grinnell, Iowa, businessman and farmer Mike Pearson follows in the footsteps of his father as the new host of Market to Market.

Representing the sixth generation of Pearsons rooted in Midwestern agriculture, Mike grew up on a family farm in Iowa. His was instilled with a strong work ethic and, at the age of 12, he raised and exhibited the Grand Champion Market Hog at the Madison County Fair. After graduating from Winterset High School in 2003, Mike managed his family’s diversified grain and livestock operation and provided market updates and news reports for WOI Radio in Ames, Iowa. Upon graduation from Simpson College, Mike entered the banking industry in Grinnell, Iowa. His financial experience includes personal, commercial and agricultural lending.

Mike and his wife, Heidi, live in Grinnell, Iowa, where they continue to build the Genuine Pearson Cattle Company brand.

Mike succeeds his father, Mark Pearson, who hosted the program for the past 20 years until his death in June of 2012. Market to Market’s first host, Chet Randolph, hosted the series for its first 17 years.

Naomi  Blohm

Naomi Blohm (Analyst)

A market advisor for Stewart-Peterson, Naomi Blohm advises clients on how to manage their cash marketing needs as well as the proper use of futures and options contracts. Naomi regularly leads market outlook and risk management seminars throughout the Midwest and is co-creator of Stewart-Peterson’s program “Women to Women: Educating Women about Farm Marketing.”

Naomi earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Agriculture Business at the University of Wisconsin in Platteville. She has a Master of Science in Adult Education with an emphasis in Ag Economics, University of Wisconsin, Platteville, and a Master Certificate in Global Education, University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.

Alan  R. Brugler

Alan R. Brugler (Analyst)

President of Omaha-based Brugler Marketing & Management, LLC, Alan R. Brugler has been providing skilled market commentary for more than a quarter-century. In addition to his role as principal market adviser for his own firm, he has worked in market analysis for the Data Transmission Network, as well as the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. A frequent speaker to rural audiences, Alan holds a master's degree in Agricultural Education from The Ohio State University.

Though he now lives in Omaha with his own family, Alan's extended family still operates a grain and dairy farm in Trumbull, County, Ohio.

Mark  Gold

Mark Gold (Analyst)

Mark Gold is a former 20-year member of the Chicago Board of Trade where he was a pit trader and floor broker. During his time on the floor Mark served as Chairman of the Soybean Pit Committee and on the Public Relations Committee. While born and raised in Chicago, Mark earned a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois, giving him unique insights from both the urban and rural perspective.

Mark has also been a floor trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, International Monetary Market, Sydney Futures Exchange, and the New Orleans Commodity Exchange where he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

As managing partner of Top Third Ag Marketing, Mark appears routinely in other agricultural media. Mark’s passion for Agriculture can best be observed at one of the 30-40 marketing seminars he presents across the U.S. every year for Ag bankers, grain elevators and other agriculturally oriented firms.

Walt   Hackney

Walt Hackney (Analyst)

It's often said that Walt Hackney knows the exact whereabouts of every hog and steer in the USA, if not the world. In his long career, Walt’s done it all – head cattle buyer, general manager of a beef packing plant, vice president of feeder cattle operations for major feedlots, director of state livestock marketing programs, and developer of nationally recognized risk management programs.

A Market to Market regular for many years, Walt is the founder of Hackney Ag, an Omaha-based company that provides marketing and risk management services to livestock producers.

Jamey  Kohake

Jamey Kohake (Analyst)

For more than 15 years, Jamey Kohake has advised grain and livestock producers on price trends, cash grain analysis and marketing strategies. His technical and fundamental analysis is highly regarded and can be heard on several national radio programs and seen in multiple print publications.

Jamey is a broker at the Silver Lake, Kansas-based Paragon Investments where he also produces a twice-daily audio market commentary and distributes daily market analysis via email.

Jamey holds a degree in business from Emporia State University and currently resides in Kansas.

Elaine  Kub

Elaine Kub (Analyst)

Elaine Kub is the author of Mastering the Grain Markets: How Profits Are Really Made – a 360-degree look at all aspects of grain trading, which draws on her experiences as a futures broker, market analyst, grain merchandiser, and farmer. Before earning an engineering degree from the University of Nebraska and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of California San Diego, Elaine grew up on a family farm in South Dakota, where she is still active in grain and livestock production.

As well as regularly sharing her insights on Market to Market, Elaine also writes a column for DTN, gives market outlook presentations across the country, and provides agricultural market analysis for other industry-specific and national media outlets.

Sue  Martin

Sue Martin (Analyst)

Sue Martin is president and owner of Ag & Investment Services, Inc. With 30 years of experience in the brokerage business, she was among the first women in her field. Active on the speaking circuit, Sue has addressed national audiences on marketing strategies and futures trends. She also has served on the board of the National Introducing Brokers Association.

In addition to her popular recurring appearances on Market to Market, Sue delivers daily commentary and analysis to a variety of radio networks and on the Internet.

Darin   Newsom

Darin Newsom (Analyst)

DTN senior analyst, Darin Newsom, provides subscribers with market insight and oversees DTN market commentary. Darin also is the creator and guiding force behind DTN's Six Factor Marketing Strategies.

With almost 25 years of experience analyzing commodity markets and developing risk-management strategies, Darin focuses on explaining how the structure of a market -- the trend of the futures combined with the price relationship between contracts -- indicates what type of market exists and therefore which strategies are appropriate.

Tomm Pfitzenmaier (Analyst)

Viewers of Market to Market have profited by Tomm Pfitzenmaier's knowledgeable market analysis for nearly two decades. Raised on a grain and livestock farm in eastern Iowa, Tomm became a partner in 1983 with Summit Commodity Brokerage, where he worked with former Market to Market host Chet Randolph. Before founding his brokerage firm, Tomm worked with Iowa Farm Management.

Currently living on a farm in central Iowa, Tomm holds a degree in Farm Management from Iowa State University.

John   Roach

John Roach (Analyst)

Appearing regularly for more than 30 years, John Roach is Market to Market 's senior analyst. John grew up on a small grain and livestock farm in south central Iowa. He started in the futures business in 1973 and five years later founded Roach Ag Marketing, an independent full-service commodity brokerage with more than 2,500 domestic and foreign clients. John authors a daily grain marketing plan that he sends to his farm clients by email each morning.

Cited in the 1995 book Master Brokers, John is based in Boca Raton, Florida. His business has 20 experienced brokers at 11 office locations in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska.

Virgil   Robinson

An outstanding fundamental and technical analyst, Virgil Robinson has worked as a grain merchandiser, commodity broker, consultant, and independent trader for more than 35 years. Currently with PHI Marketing Services, Inc., Virgil sits on the Pioneer Hedge Committee. In that role, he provides market analysis and strategies for Dupont Pioneer’s website.
