  • Bred For Bread
    (Feb 14, 2003) The USDA has developed a waxy wheat that functions as its own shortening in bread recipes. Eliminating the need to add vegetable oil or other fat to the recipe would save consumers about 26 grams of fat, or 234 calories, per loaf.
  • Reducing Risk of Diabetes
    (Feb 14, 2003) A study that followed 43-thousand men for twelve years found those who ate more than three servings per day of whole grain foods were 40% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes than men who ate less than a half-serving per day.
