LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a five-year, $31 million grant to the Arkansas Children's Nutrition Center for a study of human development and disease prevention.
The money will be used to continue studies into how the foods children eat impacts their development and their susceptibility to childhood diseases.
The center is funded by the USDA and is located on the Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute campus in Little Rock. It is looking into the benefits of soy formula and whether overweight women who are pregnant send biological signals to fetuses that predispose children for obesity.
