Recommendations to block construction of future hog lots in Iowa have been published following a summit on hog lots two years ago.
A team of researchers, led by a University of Iowa toxicologist, says the state should not allow new large hog confinement operations in order to protect people's health.
The Iowa Pork Board criticized the report, saying a call for a moratorium is not supported by research that was left out of the University of Iowa study.
