Biofuels Blagojevich

posted on September 8, 2006

The nickname may not stick but Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois says the state's vehicles are using a record amount of biofuels. Since April of 2005, State of Illinois employees have pumped a record one million gallons of E-85 ethanol and biodiesel. Each state agency averages 60,000 gallons of biodiesel and 8,100 gallons of E-85 ethanol, a mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, each month. The State of Illinois vehicle fleet also has expanded its flexible fuel vehicles. Last year, more than 400 of the 700 vehicles purchased fit in the FFV category.
