Farm Workers, Recruiter Sign Agreement

posted on April 14, 2006

A pact between a labor union and a guest worker company was reached this week in Washington State. The United Farm Workers of America and Los Angeles-based Global Horizons, a major labor recruiter, reached an unprecedented agreement on worker conditions, wages, and benefits.

Global Horizons brings foreign workers to the United States under the federal H-2 guest worker program.

The agreement comes as immigration rights supporters continue to rally in support of federal immigration legislation that includes provisions for guest workers. Congress remains in a stalemate over the proposed immigration legislation.
