Georgians Go for Goats

posted on April 14, 2006

One of Georgia's "hottest" agricultural commodities is celebrating with its own event. "Goat-A-Rama" was created to celebrate goats and their benefit to agriculture. Nearly 1,500 goat producers and individuals gather in Tennille, Georgia for the event.

Visitors attend lectures on how to milk goats, buy and sell dozens of goats and feast on goat meat.

"We found out that everybody in the world is eating goat meat," said Sidney Law, a host at the event since 1996. "Now we've got everybody in the world here - South Americans, people from the Caribbean, the Chinese, the Spanish-speaking people, the Muslims and on and on."
