Cow Manure = Energy

Desperate consumers looking for relief at the gas pumps can look no further than cow manure. For years researchers have studied manure as a fertilizer, but now they're exploring the bovine excrement as an alternative fuel source.

The Panda Group of Dallas plans to power a new ethanol plant with cow manure and other waste. The company stated using biomass will save the equivalent of one-thousand barrels of oil per day.

The Lone Star state produces billions of pounds of manure from hogs, cattle, and dairy cows.
