NCBA Opposes Rabobank Offer on FCSA

posted on August 20, 2004

National Cattlemen's Beef Association has come out in opposition to the proposed sale of Farm Credit Service of America to Dutch-based Rabobank.

A resolution passed by the NCBA Board of Directors at its midyear meeting in Denver said the organization opposed the sale to any non-Farm Credit System institution. It also pledged the NCBA to lobby to stop the sale.

Rabobank plans to spend some $1.4 billion to purchase the Omaha-based co-operative bank, which serves farmers and ranchers in four states.
