A group of Vermont college students has set off on a cross-country road trip using a converted school bus fueled by used vegetable oil.
The 13 Middlebury College students are destined for Conway, Washington. Along the way, they'll stop at restaurants to seek the used vegetable oil needed to power the bus.
The students, many of whom are majoring in environmental studies, contend vegetable oil creates less pollution than diesel fuel. They say they hope to show the veggie oil is a cheap, renewable energy source.
