Frozen Dessert Helps Lower Cholesterol

posted on April 4, 2003

I scream. You scream. We all scream for OatsCreme.

A dairy-free, sugar-free, high-fiber alternative to ice cream is a frozen dessert made from oats.

A Minnesota company figured out how to reduce the oat taste of its dessert product, but still maintain one gram of soluble fiber per half-cup serving. The FDA says eating foods high in soluble fiber can lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.

The company is also introducing high fiber oat milk with calcium and vitamins A and D … and an oat shake made with fruit juice.
