Bison Producers Form A PAC

posted on January 31, 2003

Bison PAC.

The National Bison Association is launching its own political action committee.

High on the organization's list is a call to change laws that require bison producers to pay for meat inspections that the government does free for beef, pork, lamb and poultry.

The USDA classifies bison as wild game, therefore ineligible for government-financed inspections. Bison producers contend their livestock isn't exotic, noting the bison existed on the continent long before the introduction of cattle.
