Sun, sand and soybean oil.
There's a new product in the fight against skin cancer. Soybean oil is the main ingredient in an all-natural skin and hair product formulated to block the sun's ultraviolet light.
Soy oil itself doesn't offer sun protection, so scientists at the Agricultural Research Center in Peoria, Illinois, figured out how to chemically connect it to ferulic acid … an antioxidant abundant in oat bran and other natural sources that absorbs ultraviolet light.
The product, called SoyScreen, was tested against four other commercial sunscreens for Sun Protection Factors and proved the best overall protection against both UVB and UVA sunlight radiation.
