Reducing The McFat In Fast Food

posted on September 6, 2002

Reducing the McFat.

In October, McDonald's fast food restaurants will reduce the amount of fats linked to heart disease in its french fries and other fried foods by changing the type of oil used.

McDonald's says it will use a new variety of vegetable oil made from corn and soybean oil high in polyunsaturated fats but lower in saturated fats and trans fatty acids.

However, nutritionists warn that while a better fat is used, the total calories of the fast food remain the same.
