What next? Magic Fingers?

Operating on the theory that happy cows are productive cows, an Oregon dairy farmer is using water beds to induce his Holsteins to yield more milk.

The farmer began experimenting with 15 specially made water beds in January and plans to order 80 more. The beds are rubber bladders filled with 18 gallons of water and covered with thick rubber mats.

At $150 each, the Dutch- and British-made water beds have been used in Europe for eight years. By conforming to the shape of the cow, the Europeans claim the beds give the animals a more comfortable rest.
