If U.S. Could Export to Cuba

posted on February 15, 2002

It's a "what if" story of economic hope.

A report released by the Cuba Policy Foundation says lifting the U.S. trade, travel and investment embargo against Cuba could mean (B) billions of dollars to the United States.

The report says … lifting the embargo means Cuba could purchases as much as $1.24 (B) billion dollars of U.S. farm commodities, fertilizers, pesticides and farm machinery.

In the year 2000, Cuba imported just $3.4 (B) billion dollars worth of all products from all sources … with petroleum and food at the top of the list.
