Kind Kill

A kinder, gentler slaughterhouse…

The U-S-D-A is considering new rules for treatment of animals in processing plants. Fast food giant Burger King Corporation petitioned the U-S government to implement stricter rules governing animal treatment in packing facilities. The Burger King petition specifically asks for a review of stunning procedures in packing plants.

The U-S-D-A Food Safety Inspection Service is still reviewing ALL aspects of the meat industry but has suggested concerns raised by Burger King would be alleviated.

Last June, Burger King required more stringent standards regarding slaughter of cattle, hogs and chicken due to pressure from animal rights groups.
