Personal-sized watermelons may be on their way to your local supermarket.
According to the California Farm Bureau Federation, producers are test-marketing smaller watermelons in various California locations.
The group claims the mini-melons serve one or two people, but are just as sweet and juicy as their traditional cousins.
While most melons in grocery stores right now come from Florida, the California Farm Bureau says mini-melons from the Southern California desert should reach stores in about a month.
