Cattle-log the cattle.

Shaken by the first case of mad cow disease in it's country, Japan is now testing all slaughtered cows.

In addition, the country is speeding up its plan to assign ten-digit identity codes to it's 4.5 (M) million bovines. The $28.3 (M) million dollar plan will include placement of a bar coded ear tag on each animal containing information of age, breed, farm location and place of birth.

The program is expected to be completed by April.
