While many offices housed in the World Trade Center are literally gone following Tuesday's terror attack …those same companies are working to resume business soon thanks to back-up electronic files in other locations.
For example, the bond-trading house Cantor Fitzgerald … which occupied the top floors of the World Trade Center … said its technical systems were redundant enough to be functionally intact.
Many companies store duplicate files elsewhere in the view that continuity of operations is a prerequisite for success.
Makers of back-up and recovery software booked $2.7 (B) billion in revenues last year. That figure is expected to grow to $4.7 (B) billion by the year 2005.
