Farmers are increasingly integrating computers into their operation and lifestyle. The USDA says 43% of U.S. farms have Internet access, compared to 29% hooked up in 1999.

50% of the farms own or lease a computer, up from 40% in 1999.

Farmers using computers for farm business increased from 24% in 1999 to 29% this year.

Farmers say they use the Internet for everything from monitoring the weather to buying supplies or selling crops. Some use the Net to just plain chat.
