Dr. Galen Kaufman, an ear, nose and throat physician has developed what he hopes will be the snack food of the future: Fizzy Fruit. Experimenting with carbon dioxide gas in his kitchen in Galveston, Texas, Kaufman discovered he could make pears as fizzy as champagne. Those trying the effervescent fruits compared it to drinking a bottle of soda pop.
Kaufman's prototype fizzer is a pressurized box that goes in the refrigerator and infuses carbon dioxide into any fruit made up of 80% water.
Expecting Fizzy Fruit to take off like a rocket, Kaufman has made his patent available for sale on Ebay. The reserve price of $10 million has not yet been met.
