Glowing. It isn't just for fireflies anymore…
A fluorescent rabbit has made an appearance at Duke University. The transgenic mammal was produced by splicing the rabbit's D-N-A with a gene responsible for the green fluorescent protein in a jellyfish.
The rabbit is a piece of living artwork commissioned by a Brazilian artist. He calls the work Alba and introduced the rabbit to the world in May as a preview of life with genetically altered humans.
Alba was the star attraction at a recent ethics symposium in North Carolina.
