Even more uses for soybeans

posted on March 31, 2000

ASBESTOS, SMESBESTOS...I'VE GOT SOY BEANS!...

A NEW SOY-BASED SOLVENT HAS HIT THE MARKET. THE PRODUCT, CALLED BEAN-E-DOO, IS USED TO REMOVE CEMENT-LIKE ADHESIVES CONTAINING ASBESTOS. THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMS IT DOESN'T GIVE OFF PUNGENT ODORS OR EMIT CARCINOGENIC FUMES LIKE MANY PETROLEUM-BASED PRODUCTS, MAKING IT SAFER FOR USE AROUND PEOPLE. THE SOY SOLVENT ALSO IS BIO-DEGRADABLE AND HAS NO DISPOSAL RESTRICTIONS.

BEAN-E-DOO ALREADY HAS RECEIVED INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION. THE AMERICAN EMBASSY IN INDIA USED THE PRODUCT AND RECOMMENDED IT TO OTHER U-S EMBASSIES.
