ELIMINATES SCURVY AND E. COLI...

LEMON JUICE MAY BE E. COLI'S WORST ENEMY.

RESEARCHERS AT NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY ARE ATTEMPTING TO ELIMINATE THE HARMFUL BACTERIA FROM FOOD WITH COMMON HOUSEHOLD GOODS. LEMON JUICE, VINEGAR, CHLORINE BLEACH, AND A VARIETY OF OTHER COMMON PRODUCTS ARE BEING TESTED IN THE BATTLE TO ELIMINATE E. COLI.

ICEBERG LETTUCE IS INJECTED WITH E. COLI AND THEN WASHED WITH DILUTE SOLUTIONS OF THE VARIOUS HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS. IT IS HOPED COMMON CHEMICALS WILL PROVE TO BE A SOLUTION TO THE E. COLI PROBLEM.
