Economic Outlook: February 1, 2019

Jan 31, 2019  | Ep4424

The effect of the partial government shutdown on the economy has been mixed. Federal reports, on hiatus for a month, came back this week to fill the data gap. ---

Adding to an 8-year run, 304,000 jobs were created in January as more people decided to look for work.

The Unemployment Rate rose to 4 percent but the trend may depend on the final shake-out from the partial government shutdown.

The economy continues to hit Fed benchmarks but the Committee opted to leave interest rates alone in light of current global economic conditions.
