Traditional American Roots Music
Old-Time Country Music is a half-hour stereo television series which was recorded before studio audiences at Iowa Public Television in Johnston, Iowa. These programs aired between 1990 and 2002 and featured local, regional, and national acoustic artists. From its onset, Old-Time Country Music featured country, folk, and bluegrass music for studio audiences, as well as state and national viewers.

Here are some of the performers who were featured: Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys, Bob Everhart, The Exline Family, Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, The Bill Sky Family, Bryan Bowers, Mac Wiseman, Don Edwards, The Sons of the San Joaquin, The Lewis Family, Druha Trava, John Hartford, Stoney Lonesome, Peter Ostroushko, Dave Para and Cathy Barton, Norman and Nancy Blake, The Rarely Herd, Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, Bill Grant and Delia Bell, Grandpa Jones, The Lynn Morris Band, The Makem Brothers, Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group, Shorty and Lorene, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Tom Paley and Bob Bovee, The Del McCoury Band, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Cherish the Ladies, The Freight Hoppers, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, The McLains with guest Mike Stevens, The Volo Bogtrotters, David Holt, Leroy Troy, Special Consensus, The Wilders, Golden Harvest Bluegrass, Mike Seeger, The Waring Family, and the Ezells.

In all, ninety-one half-hour programs were produced. Some artists were featured on more than one progam, however. Each artist visited Iowa Public Television and performed for an audience.
