I know this is basic, but I often forget to do it. I need to ask more questions before students start to read. For instance, how important is blueprint reading to building a house? Why is it important?

Just this simple pre-reading strategy seemed to set up the students for better understanding. When we were out on the site and they experienced reading blueprints they had a better understanding of its importance.
