During Reading: Reading Guides |
|
Description |
I have student pairs read information from tables or text with many details. They must select the 'TOP 10' from that list. This may be the top 10 new things they discovered while they read, the top 10 they decided were the most important, or they must group the entire list into 10 categories. Their Top 10 list is then placed on a poster to share with classmates.

Reflection |
I like this strategy for transforming detailed sections into manageable and meaningful information. Working in pairs, students need to actively decide which information makes 'the list' and which does not.
Very adaptable for all types of information.
Alternative activity: have several pairs work on the same information and then defend their list using debate strategies.
