There are no broadcasts currently planned. Please check back for future broadcast dates.
Together with our partners, Iowa Public Television will engage a substantial portion of Iowans in a dialogue about World War II. Expanding on the stories gathered during our production of the regional Emmy Award winning documentary Iowa's World War II Stories, Iowa Public Television is serving as a facilitator of this important dialogue within families and within communities. This project encourages Iowans to help gather the stories of this sometimes-reluctant and rapidly shrinking generation.
Our effort will take place throughout 2007 and includes direct story gathering, training of high school and college students for story gathering and brief portions of select interviews broadcast on IPTV. Each month, a new story will be added to the broadcast schedule, and extended versions of those and additional stories will be posted on this site.
Stories From Viewers
More than 276,000 Iowans went into military service during World War II. 8,398 never returned. This year, Iowa Public Television is gathering stories from veterans of the War to gather and preserve the stories of this rapidly shrinking generation.
