Globe Trekker

Trekking In Uganda and Congo (#127)

Nikki's trek in Central Africa takes her through dramatic landscapes to Bwindi National Park, also known as the Impenetrable Forest. Bwindi is one of the last remaining habitats of mountain gorillas, and its current gorilla population is estimated at 320. With the help of guides, Nikki tracks a gorilla family for hours through difficult terrain. Nikki treks into the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as Mountains of the Moon, because glaciers at the summit are glimpsed through a veil of clouds. In Beni, inside the Congo, Nikki is diagnosed with malaria and stops a few days for treatment. She ends her journey with a Mbuti pygmy community and joins the children collecting caterpillars and crabs for the evening meal. [56 minutes] Closed Captioning
