Globe Trekker

Norway (#305)

Ian begins his Nordic journey high on a cliff in Stavanger, where he witnesses the extreme sport of base jumping. He takes the ferry to Bergen and then travels by train to Voss. Upon arrival, he camps under the stars by a crystal clear lake and takes a lesson in river boarding. Ian treks to Stryn, one of Norway's summer ski resorts. Along the way he views the spectacular mountainscapes and takes a short trip in a Viking boat replica. Ian pays a visit to Lapland, the land of the Midnight Sun, where he helps a reindeer farmer erect a labu, or tent. As thanks, he is invited to a colorful wedding and feast - made up of 18 reindeer! His last destination is Spitzbergen, the northernmost part of Norway, where there are more polar beers than humans. Ian goes ice diving to harvest seaweed and travels by husky-driven sled into the wilderness. [57 minutes] Closed Captioning
