Globe Trekker

Czech Republic and Southern Poland (#313)

Justine visits Prague Castle, the city's most famous landmark and the seat of power since the 9th century. She relaxes in the Globe Bookshop Cafe with its regular readings and homemade brownies. Justine travels by skoda, the Czech car, to attend a rave in Teplice. She then spends a day in nearby Karlovy Vary, a 500 year-old spa town with 12 natural springs. Justine canoes to her next destination, Ceske Budejovice, where she catches a train into Poland. Her first stop is Czestochowa, the home of Poland's most important religious icon - the Black Madonna. She travels to Krakow, the ancient royal capital and Poland's modern-day cultural center. Justine pays an emotional and personal journey to Oswiecim, or Auschwitz, the notorious concentration camp. She finally heads into the Tatra Mountain Range and the town of Zakopane, where she glimpses the traditional, rural way of life. [57 minutes] Closed Captioning
