Globe Trekker

Mexico City Guide (#418)

Justine Shapiro ventures to Mexico City - a melee of modern skyscrapers, Indian markets and Spanish churches - where most of Mexico's political, cultural and economic life has been centered for thousands of years. She visits the colorful food markets, learns about the city's archaeological treasures, samples numerous varieties of tequila and takes in lucha libre or masked wrestling. Justine joins the devotional throng for the Virgin of Guadalupe Festival, witnesses her first bullfight and explores the lush, secluded mountains of El Rosario, where billions of monarch butterflies migrate from Canada each year.
