This Old House

Episode #1702

Host Steve Thomas and master carpenter Norm Abram begin work on the restoration of a 250-year old home in Massachusetts owned by THIS OLD HOUSE. Workers demolish an unsalvageable addition to the barn on the property, with the intent of replacing it with a new workshop later on. Thomas leads architect Rick Bechtel through a tour of the interior of the house to get some ideas for sketches detailing the new layout of the rooms. Heating and plumbing consultant Richard Trethewey also drops by to look at the existing heating system and bathrooms of the house. Thomas also visits the Kips Bay Designer Showcase in New York to take a look at 16 magnificent rooms by some of America's top designers. [26 minutes] Closed Captioning
