  • Orphan Orca: Saving Springer

On January 14, 2002, a lone baby orca whale was spotted in the waters off Seattle, Washington. With fears that the whale might be in peril, scientists and concerned citizens leapt into action to help. The female baby orca, nicknamed Springer, became an instant celebrity. ORPHAN ORCA: SAVING SPRINGER recounts the inspiring story of the rehabilitation and eventual release of this baby orca. The program chronicles the work of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, who worked to treat the whale's health problems and return Springer safely to her community, or pod, of killer whales.
