Program Description: FARMERS' ALMANAC TV is packed with forecasts, facts, folklore and recipes, remedies and riddles from the reference publications that have enlightened and informed millions of Americans for nearly two centuries. The familiar pages of farmers' almanacs come to life with stories celebrating nature, family, community and the "New Ruralism." Host Jim Wann, a Tony-nominated author and composer, journeys around the country to uncover the best of traditional living. From downtown Seattle to the low country in the South, FARMERS' ALMANAC TV samples a potpourri of pastimes and lifestyles: railroad gardens, farm stock dogs, city chickens, county fairs, festivals, honeybees and more. Along the way, Wann discovers how to garden "by the moon," control diseases and pests the "natural" way, cook wild game and create organic kitchen crafts. Later, he visits a demolition derby of harvesting combines, and attends a convention of thousands of fresh-faced Future Farmers of America.
