Life in the Desert (#102)

This program focuses on the diversity of life in the desert and shows how plants and animals have adapted to life in a place of extremes.

Education Record Rights: Recording/duplication allowed as long as IPTV broadcasts the series.

Program Description: AMERICAN DESERTS takes students on a tour of the four major deserts in the U.S.: Chihuahuan, Sonoran, Mojave and Great Basin.

    The desert has diverse environments. Graphics and digital imagery show the range of American deserts including Chihuahuan, Sonoran, Mojave and Great Basin as well as indicator species of plants and animals for each desert type.

    This program focuses on the diversity of life in the desert and shows how plants and animals have adapted to life in a place of extremes.

  • Water in the Desert (#103)

    The availability of water controls not only the range of plants and animals but the historic and contemporary use of the desert by people. The program also shows how we have altered the desert environment at the expense of native plants, animals and people.
