Program Description: Heart disease claims the lives of 750,000 people in the United States each year. Twenty-three million Americans are living with the disease -- nearly 12% of the total US population -- and an aging population only makes this problem more urgent than ever before. Mixing personal stories with cutting edge medical research, this speciall raises awareness about the seriousness of the epidemic and the increasing toll its takes on families and society; dispels myths about heart disease and provides solid information about risks and warning signs; and examines promising new ways to predict and treat heart disease before it becomes life threatening.
The documentary is followed by a 30-minute panel discussion, hosted by Larry King, called "Take One Step for a Healthy Heart with Larry King." The panel includes heart experts discussing how to prevent and manage heart disease.
