The Global Agricultural Crisis of the 21st Century (#151)

Agricultural ecologist Sir Gordon Conway delivered the 2008 Norman Borlaug Lecture from Iowa State University. He was one of the first to define the concept of sustainable agriculture.Sir Gordon pioneered integrated pest management in Borneo (Malaysia) in the 1960s, and developed agroecosystems analysis in Thailand. He has also been professor of Environmental Technology at Imperial College in London (1970-86), worked for the Ford Foundation in New Delhi (1988-92), and was elected as president of The Rockefeller Foundation in 1998. Among his publications are: Unwelcome Harvest: Agriculture and Pollution, The Doubly Green Revolution: Food for all in the 21st Century, and Islamophobia: A Challenge for Us All.

The collaborative effort between IPTV and participating colleges and universities provides mentoring to students, giving them the opportunity to shoot and edit the events for broadcast on IPTV’ s digital channel and streaming on the ITTV Web site.
