The Iowa Brown and Black Gubernatorial Debate

R-Jim Nussle, D-Chet Culver, Candidates for Iowa Governor (#2006)

Iowa's gubernatorial candidates, U.S. Congressman Jim Nussle and Iowa Secretary of State Chet Culver, have agreed to participate in the Brown & Black Gubernatorial Debate sponsored by the Iowa Brown & Black Forum Committee from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12. The event will be carried live by Iowa Public Television and originate from the IPTV studios at 6450 Corporate Drive in Johnston, Iowa.

The nonpartisan Iowa Brown & Black Forum began with U.S. Presidential candidate debates in 1984 and figured prominently in the 2004 Iowa caucuses. This will be its first event featuring Republican and Democratic Iowa gubernatorial candidates.

Discussing the issues that people can relate to has a tendency to implant an excitement that moves people to positive action. Democratic Co chairs Wayne Ford and Mary Campos, as well as Republican Co-Chairs Mary Ann Spicer and John Ortega, all agree that getting people to buy into the political process is not an easy task, especially today. We ether to discuss minority issues.
