A fossil is a trace of a living thing left in a rock. Fossils offer a three-part challenge. First is to reconstruct the organism itself, then to reconstruct the world it lived in, then to understand its place in time and evolution.

Program Description: Presented by young scientists, OUR EARTH is a new series that looks at the science of geology -- fossils, the Earth's core, tectonic forces, and the impact of the sun, wind and water. It also discusses why we need to understand geology.
