Iowa's Marriage Battleground
It's clear that the fight over same sex marriage in Iowa isn't going away. Politicians won't let it, even though polls suggest that the public may be growing tired of the fight, or at least the noise that accompanies it, wanting well enough to be left alone. A big part of the reason is Iowa's first-in-the-nation presidential test, and the growing role that social conservatives, for whom repeal of same sex marriage statutes is a sacred issue, will play in determining the GOP nominee. It's propelled too by the other side, still feeling the sting of the defeat of three Supreme Court Justices' campaigns to retain their seats on the bench, which has started to fight back and has begun mapping strategy and raising money toward that end. These fights and the issues and personalities that propel them will be profiled in "Battleground Iowa" - a one hour special report examining the stakes involved in the continued battle over this issue. Included in the program will be reports about the fight in Iowa and nationally, and interviews with key players involved in the issue. [59 minutes]
